The story
A father and teen daughter attend a pop concert, where they realize they're at the center of a dark and sinister event.
What it’s like
Cold, controlled blues and steel grays dominate Trap, with stage lighting that flares into hard white and purple beams against the dark of a packed arena. Shyamalan frames his people with the precision of a set designer: long, locked-off shots and slow push-ins that make the crowd feel like a pressing wall, while the camera lingers on small tells in faces and hands. Sound does much of the work. A glossy pop soundtrack bleeds through the arena, then drops into near silence whenever a character realizes something is wrong, and the score's sparse, tense strings pulse under quiet corridors and parked vehicles. The mood is clinical unease with a glossy surface, a paranoid thriller that slowly tightens its grip. Pacing is methodical, with dread built through waiting and watching rather than rapid cutting. Its intensity is moderate: there is peril, a few sudden jolts, and some violence and gunplay that is brief and not graphic, with no gore. Emotionally it follows a father's protective instinct under pressure, and his strained bond with his daughter. Best for viewers who enjoy suspense, a tense night in, or a thriller with a cool, polished look.
