The story

Wildermyth is a character-driven, procedurally-generated tactical RPG. Lead a band of unique heroes as they grow from a reluctant farmers into legendary fighters. Battle threats lurking in the Yondering Lands and discover secrets that the land has to offer.

What it’s like

Hand-drawn storybook art in soft, inked watercolor-like textures, with every battle map a small diorama of woods, villages and stone ruins under flat, warm daylight that shifts toward dusk as the campaign goes on. Characters are sketched with loose, expressive lines and animated in gentle, comic-panel cutscenes that linger on faces and quiet moments between fights. The soundtrack is a warm, acoustic folk score of plucked strings and soft flutes, with clinks of armour and birdsong filling the gaps in turn-based combat. The vibe is cozy and whimsical with a thread of unease, the feel of an illustrated fairy tale told around a fire. It suits a slow evening at home, a long unhurried session, or a quiet weekend when you want something to return to in small sittings. Pacing is measured and turn-based, with frequent pauses for story beats, and the emotional register is tender and humorous, following ordinary people slowly becoming heroes and growing old alongside their companions. Violence is cartoonish and bloodless, with brief skirmishes and occasional darker, cosmic-horror notes that stay mostly atmospheric. It is for players who enjoy tactics that feel personal, character drama and quirky storytelling without graphic brutality.
