The story

Alex, Justin and Max Russo are not your ordinary kids - they're wizards in training! While their parents run the Waverly Sub Station, the siblings struggle to balance their ordinary lives while learning to master their extraordinary powers.

What it’s like

Bright, bouncy multi-camera sitcom look: flat, even studio lighting, saturated primary colours, a sunny New York apartment set with warm yellow walls and a busy kitchen, and sitcom-style wide shots that let the physical comedy land. Magic arrives as glossy, cartoonish sparkle effects, spell flashes and sound stings rather than anything moody or shadowy. The score is peppy and synth-bright, with laugh-track rhythm and quick cuts between family bickering, mall-and-school hangouts and snappy one-liners. The vibe is cheerful, goofy and warm, with a light fizz of teen self-consciousness, and it suits an easy after-school watch, a comfort rewatch, or background while doing homework or folding laundry. The intensity is very low: slapstick, spell mishaps, sibling pranks and a few mild threats from wizard rivals, with no gore, no sexual content and no real fear. It is gentle, family-friendly and most rewarding for kids and younger teens, or adults who want an undemanding laugh and a bit of nostalgia, with a steady emphasis on siblings learning to get along and to trust themselves.
