The story

Diagnosed with a mental illness halfway through his senior year of high school, a witty, introspective teen struggles to keep it a secret while falling in love with a brilliant classmate who inspires him to open his heart and not be defined by his condition.

What it’s like

Soft, warm domestic light fills the kitchen scenes, where cooking and quiet talk give the film its everyday texture, while the school corridors and confession-booth settings feel plainly lit and institutional. The narration is candid and wry, sitting close to the protagonist's head, and the score leans toward gentle piano and understated strings that rise when the romance opens up and thin out when the voices intrude. The mood is tender and bittersweet, a teen romance with a serious undercurrent of anxiety and secrecy about mental illness. Its pacing is unhurried and conversational, with the emotional weight carried by small exchanges rather than set pieces. The arc follows a young man learning to speak openly about what he's hiding and to let someone see him. Intensity is low: the difficulty is emotional and psychological, with hearing voices and fear of disclosure treated seriously, and there is little graphic violence or explicit content. It suits a rainy evening, a comfort watch, or anyone wanting a sincere, humane story about being known. It's for viewers who like character-driven drama with a romantic thread and an honest look at living with a hidden diagnosis.
