The story
World War III rages and a Soviet-led army has launched a surprise attack on the U.S.A. Command your troops into fast-paced battles fought on a fully destructible battle-field. Strategy meets intense action in this epic clash of Super Powers!
What it’s like
Muted olive and concrete-grey palettes break open into bursts of orange fireball and white tracer fire, with smoke columns rolling over suburban streets and shattered glass glittering in the gutters. The camera hangs high above the battlefield in a fixed, zoomed-out top-down view, so each skirmish reads as a living diorama of tanks, helicopters and infantry squads, and the sense of scale comes from watching whole neighbourhoods crumble under artillery. Sound leans on heavy, booming explosions, rattling machine guns and urgent radio chatter, with a driving orchestral score that swells under pressure and drops away during quieter reconnaissance moments. The mood is tense and cold-war grim, with a patriotic urgency running beneath the sweep of the map. Pacing is brisk and tactical, built on quick decisions, reinforcement timing and reacting to shifting fronts, and the emotional arc follows a commander and his forces holding on as the odds tilt. Violence is constant but abstract: vehicles and buildings explode and soldiers fall in clouds of debris, with little visible gore. It suits a focused evening at the desk and fans of military strategy who want big, destructible spectacle more than quiet contemplation.
