The story

After being held imprisoned in a room for 14 years, Balajeet Roy is suddenly released. Thereafter, he goes on a quest to look for the people who wronged him.

What it’s like

Gritty, saturated urban nights and harsh, sweaty interiors give this a hard-edged, revenge-fuelled look, with the camera pushing close into fights and chases rather than holding back. The mood is raw and driven, closer to a grimy taxi-cab wander through a hostile city than to anything soft or contemplative, with stretches of brooding stillness broken by sudden bursts of martial-arts action. Expect sharp cuts, loud dramatic music and a pulse that rarely drops. The emotional register is anger and bitterness, following a man who has lost fourteen years and wants them back in blood. It is violent throughout: fistfights, knife and gun action and brutal beatings land with real impact, and the tone turns cold and cruel at times, though the intensity is more action-film than horror. The romantic and melodramatic threads add a softer, sentimental layer that briefly eases the tension. It suits a late-night, adrenaline-seeking watch, or a fan of Indian action cinema who likes bold revenge stories with a Bollywood heart. Not suited to anyone wanting something gentle or low-stakes.
