The story
Comedy about the unlikely friendship that develops between two very different young women who meet waitressing at a diner in trendy Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and form a bond over one day owning their own successful cupcake business. Only one thing stands in their way – they’re broke.
What it’s like
Bright, flat multi-camera sitcom lighting: the diner is warm and overlit, with fluorescent kitchen glare, red vinyl booths, and pastel cupcake props that give every scene a sugary, saturated sheen. The camera stays mostly locked in wide, stagey two-shots, cutting quickly between punchline setups, with a laugh track filling the gaps and a bouncy, synth-tinged theme that sets a breezy tone. Its vibe is brash, cheerful and scrappy, the kind of easy watch for a lazy evening, a background episode while folding laundry, or a comfort rewatch when you want noise and warmth rather than atmosphere. The pace is brisk, with one-liners tumbling over each other, and the emotional register stays light: two mismatched women, one jaded and one sunny, slowly becoming close friends while chasing a shared, improbable dream. Violence is absent; the crude humour, sexual innuendo and frequent swearing are the main edges, delivered with no real menace. It suits viewers who want big-hearted, low-stakes comedy about working life and female friendship, and who don't mind a loud, broad sitcom style.
