The story

When his love interest doesn't show up for a meeting, a man and his friends go to Goa in order to find her, where they discover she loves someone else.

What it’s like

Bright, saturated Bollywood frames: sunlit Goa beaches, turquoise water, flower-strewn streets and loud costume colour, with song-and-dance set pieces that burst open the picture. The mood is mischievous and buoyant, a candy-coloured romance that swings between slapstick chase energy and sweet, sincere longing. The camera moves freely, with wide establishing shots of coastline and tight close-ups on the lovers' exaggerated expressions, and the score is full of bouncy orchestral pop, dholak rhythms and big romantic ballads that turn up the sentiment at every turn. Pacing is brisk and playful, built on running gags, comic misunderstandings and lively ensemble scenes among the friends. Emotionally it is light and warm, with a hero who is goofy, persistent and easily wounded, his arc a comic journey from heartbreak toward a more self-aware kind of love. The action is cartoonish, with slapstick brawls and chases rather than real menace, and there is no gore, little cruelty, and only mild romantic physicality. It suits a cheerful weekend afternoon, a group watch, or a lighthearted comfort rewatch, and it is made for viewers who enjoy big Hindi-film melodrama, musical numbers and gentle, silly comedy.
