The story

Prem believes Sanjana is the girl chosen by his dad and falls in love with her. However, she is a runaway bride escaping from a marriage set up by her mafia uncles against her wishes. On learning the truth, he devises a plan to win her over from her uncles who intend to usurp her huge inheritance.

What it’s like

Bright, saturated studio colour and sunlit Mumbai-and-Ooty exteriors, with wide, busy frames that let slapstick and dance numbers fill the screen. The camera moves in brisk, showy sweeps, quick cuts and zooms, and the whole thing is cut to a loud, bouncy rhythm: Hindi pop and dhol-driven songs, big orchestral swells, and bursts of comic sound effects. The vibe is breezy, goofy and high-energy, a crowd-pleasing caper for a lively evening with friends or a weekend when you want noise and laughs rather than quiet. Its pace is fast and episodic, with the romance playing out through teasing set pieces, chases and comic misunderstandings, and the emotional arc is a cheerful one: a hopeful, impulsive young man winning over a guarded heroine while outwitting her scheming relatives. Violence is cartoonish and stylised, with punch-ups, chases and fight choreography played for laughs; there is no gore, and sexual content is limited to flirtation and romantic songs. It suits viewers who want an action-comedy with melodrama, music and a big-hearted, mischievous hero.
