The story
After a public spat with a movie star, a disgraced director retaliates by kidnapping the actor's daughter, filming the search for her in real-time.
What it’s like
Bright, glossy Mumbai surfaces give way to grimy, handheld night streets, with the camera often jittering in close to actors who are playing exaggerated versions of themselves. Warm film-industry sheen sits over sets, hotel suites and sleek apartments, while the chase sequences turn to sweaty, cramped alleys lit by sodium lamps and car headlights. The score is a fizzy mix of brassy Bollywood-flavoured beats and sharp synth stings that tip the tone from wry to tense. The pace is fast and restless, cutting between mock-documentary confessionals, livestream-style fragments and full-blooded set pieces, so the film keeps poking fun at its own vanity even as it gets rougher. Its people are vain, wounded, and gradually made more human under pressure, with a playful self-mocking undercurrent. Violence is present and occasionally sharp: a few scuffles, threats and a kidnapping, with some brief gunplay, but it is more slapstick than gory, with little blood and no sexual content. It suits a Friday night with friends, or anyone who enjoys showbiz satire and crime comedy with a bit of bite. Fans of meta, self-referential Hindi cinema will get the most out of it.
