The story

By combining FromSoftware’s longstanding expertise in mech games and their signature robust gameplay, Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon will be a new action experience.

What it’s like

Hard-edged and industrial: rust-brown canyon floors under a bruised orange sky, pale haze hanging over vast salt flats, and the stark white glare of hangar floodlights against black steel. The mechs are built from blocky, bolted-together parts that fill the frame in close-up, and the camera sits low and behind them, so every heavy footstep and hydraulic hiss feels physical. The soundtrack leans on pulsing electronic drones and sudden percussive bursts, with long stretches of wind and distant engine roar when the player is alone in the wasteland. Its vibe is grim, bristling and fiercely focused, with a cold mercenary edge and the satisfaction of a well-tuned machine. Movement is quick and aggressive, with boosting, dashing and rapid firefights that build into tense, high-pressure bursts between quieter stretches of briefing and customization. The intensity is frequent combat violence against robotic enemies, with explosions and flashes of fire but no gore or sexual content, and the tension comes from fast reflexes rather than dread. Best for players who enjoy demanding action, deep build-crafting, and the weight of towering machines.
