The story
Engage in airborne combat with jump-jets and weapons of incredible power or link up with your cyber cycle for high speed ground attacks. Each step inches you closer to your goal and the fight of your life. You are Ranger X... A mysterious lone warrior who has risen from the ashes to return peace and justice to a failed society. Eight post-apocalyptic levels of high-intensity action! Monstrous mechanical bosses await your every move. Use jump-jets to attack by air or transform into the Super Cyber Cycle and roll to victory!
What it’s like
Hard-edged 16-bit sci-fi with a grimy, saturated palette: rust-brown wastelands, sodium-orange skies, and neon-lit ruins rendered in chunky sprites and busy parallax scrolling. The screen is almost always crowded with explosions, tracer fire and oversized mechanical bosses, while the suit's jump-jets lift the camera into side-on arcs and the cycle transformation turns each stage into a fast, low-slung drive across the ground. The sound is a driving Genesis soundtrack of gritty synth pulses and bright, percussive FM stabs, with blasts that crunch hard through the mix. Its vibe is adrenaline-fuelled and relentlessly loud, a stripped-down post-apocalyptic revenge fantasy that rarely pauses for breath. Pacing is tight and unforgiving across eight levels, each building toward a big boss fight, and the lone hero's arc is pure momentum, with little interiority beyond rising from the ashes. Violence is constant, cartoonish and bloodless, with explosive destruction of machines and monsters rather than gore, and the difficulty can feel punishing. It suits a late-night session or a retro-action craving, and it is made for players who want old-school run-and-gun spectacle with mech combat and high-speed bike sections.
