The story

Fifteen years after vanishing from the CIA to start a family, elite spies Matt and Emily jump back into the world of espionage when their cover is blown.

What it’s like

Bright, glossy studio-digital images with saturated colour: sun-washed European capitals, sleek hotel lobbies under warm tungsten, and hard daylight on rooftop chases, all shot with fast handheld energy and quick cuts that keep the frame busy. The sound is loud and polished, with pop-leaning needle drops, punchy action beats and gunfire mixed up front, and jokey bickering dialogue cutting through. Its vibe is slick, breezy and lightly chaotic, the kind of thing to put on for a Friday night with friends or a relaxed comfort watch when you want noise and laughs rather than tension. Pacing is brisk and episodic, bouncing between set pieces and banter, and the emotional register stays playful, with a middle-aged couple rediscovering their old partnership and their bond as parents and spies. Violence is frequent and cartoonish, with gunfights, explosions and fist fights played for slapstick, and little real gore; sexual content is absent and the scary moments are brief and brushed off. It suits people who want an easy, funny action comedy with no emotional weight and a lot of spectacle.
