What it’s like

Night-slick rooftops under a sickly green haze, sodium-orange streetlamps pooling across frozen stone, and the cold blue glow of Arkham's walled-off city turning every gargoyle and cathedral spire into a silhouette. The palette leans on bruised teal, rust and smoky violet, with cinematic camera swoops that glide over the open city and tighten into close, fast-cut brawls where the screen shakes with every impact. The sound is a heavy orchestral score that drops into tense, sparse strings during stealth stretches, while Mark Hamill's Joker and Kevin Conroy's Batman trade barbs over crackling radio chatter. Its vibe is brooding, kinetic and pulpy, a gritty comic-book noir built for long evenings with the controller. Violence is frequent and stylised: rhythmic, cartoonish beatdowns with plenty of punches and gadget takedowns, plus some grisly villain deaths and a few tense, shadowy scares, but no gore for its own sake. Pacing alternates between patient gliding and stalking and explosive combat, with a steady escalation of stakes. The DLC adds a pared-down, playful register through Catwoman's sleeker acrobatics and Robin and Nightwing's bright, faster combat. It suits fans of superhero stories, players who want a big, moody sandbox, and anyone who loves a showy, rhythmic action rhythm.
