The story

The life of the shinobi is beginning to change. Boruto Uzumaki, son of Seventh Hokage Naruto Uzumaki, has enrolled in the Ninja Academy to learn the ways of the ninja. Now, as a series of mysterious events unfolds, Boruto’s story is about to begin!

What it’s like

Bright, saturated anime colour with clean cel-shading, the palette of a sunny village full of orange jackets, green forest and pale blue sky, and bold, kinetic framing whenever fights break out: fast cuts, speed lines, and sudden flashes of light during jutsu. Quieter scenes lean on soft daytime interiors and wide establishing shots of rooftops and streets, with the open-air energy of a shounen series that never fully slows down. The score is brisk orchestral and electronic, pumping hard in battles and turning airy and bouncy for school and everyday comedy, while the voice cast delivers loud, earnest, often goofy performances. Violence is frequent and stylised: punches, blades, energy blasts and explosions, with some sustained combat and moderate peril, but little gore and nothing sexual. Vibe: upbeat, lightly comic, adventurous and warm, suited to weekend binging, background viewing on a busy afternoon, or a comfort rewatch when you want something energetic. Pacing runs episodic with regular fight arcs and mystery threads. The emotional core is a teenager pushing against his famous father's shadow and slowly finding his own footing among friends and rivals. Made for fans of action anime, team-based adventure and fond, long-running ninja worlds.
