The story
Causality is a puzzle game about manipulating time, altering the sequence of events and changing the outcome of each level. Set across strange and alien landscapes, help a group of stranded astronauts find a route to safety. Travel through time, work with your past selves and solve paradoxes as you take on this uniquely challenging puzzler. Each level represents a brief but hazardous moment in time. Levels are completed by guiding each astronaut to an exit that matches their colour, within a limited time frame. When all astronauts reach an exit the level is complete.
What it’s like
Clean, diagrammatic puzzle staging: small alien terrains rendered in simple, readable shapes so every ledge, hazard and exit stays legible at a glance, with the colour-coded exits doing most of the visual work. The mood is focused and quietly tense rather than dreadful, a ticking clock and a sense of cold, unfamiliar ground more than atmosphere for its own sake. Each level is a short, self-contained burst of concentration, so it suits a stretch of unhurried evenings, a flight, or a tablet propped up in bed, where a few minutes of thinking feels satisfying and it's easy to stop and start. Pacing is brisk within a level and patient between them, with the rhythm set by trial, rewind and the satisfaction of a sequence finally clicking into place. Emotionally it stays light and cerebral; the stranded crew are sketched lightly, so the arc is one of cooperation with your own earlier attempts rather than deep character work. Peril is present in the form of hazards and timed failure, but the danger reads as puzzle-logic rather than gore, with no graphic violence and no sexual content. It is for players who enjoy clever, time-bending logic, methodical problem-solving, and the calm, absorbing focus of a well-built puzzler.
