The story

In this classic point-and-click adventure anthology you follow the path of Dale and Laura and other famous Rusty lake characters such as Mr. Crow and Mr. Owl. The series will be updated, preserved and bundled to survive the end of the Flash Games era.

What it’s like

Hand-drawn, dim and storybook-eerie: flat painted rooms built from layered cutout shapes, muted ochres, bruised purples and sickly greens, with the occasional saturated red bleeding into an otherwise drained scene. Each room sits still in a fixed frame while you click through it, so the pace is set by your own curiosity rather than any camera movement. Sound is sparse and unsettling, with soft ambient drones, creaking wood, ticking clocks and small mechanical clicks as drawers and locks give way, and the silence between them carries most of the unease. The vibe is quiet, uncanny mystery, closer to a dusty curiosity cabinet than a jump-scare house, best suited to a late evening alone, a slow puzzle session with the lamp on, or a patient rainy afternoon. Its intensity is low: there is no gore or on-screen violence, though the imagery is strange, and some dark, disquieting turns and unexplained deaths hang over the story. Puzzles reward observation and lateral thinking more than reflexes. It suits people who enjoy eerie atmosphere, mood-driven mysteries, and the slow satisfaction of solving a locked room one object at a time.
