The story
When family man Nick Brewer is abducted in a crime with a sinister online twist, those closest to him race to uncover who is behind it and why.
What it’s like
Cool, desaturated digital grade with bright phone-screen glow cutting through dim interiors, and a restless handheld camera that keeps returning to glossy, over-lit surfaces: laptops, tablets, a suburban kitchen under flat fluorescent light. The Bay Area settings feel hazy and damp rather than postcard-sunny, with fog, grey streets and anonymous houses. Sound leans on pinging notifications, muffled ambient hum and a tense, pulsing electronic score that drops out in sudden silence. Its vibe is anxious, voyeuristic and unsettled, with a paranoid edge. It suits a late-night binge when you want to be kept on edge, or a stretch of restless evening with the phone within reach. The pace is brisk and episodic, and the tone turns on mistrust: the story moves between several perspectives, so the people around a missing man are constantly reassessing one another. Violence is present but mostly implied, with some tense kidnapping scenes, and there is adult content including infidelity. It is for viewers who enjoy social-media-era thrillers and layered, suspicious ensemble mysteries.
