The story
When a mutating, highly contagious fungus escapes a sealed facility, two employees – joined by a grizzled bioterror operative – must survive the wildest night shift ever to save humanity from extinction.
What it’s like
Bright, overlit fluorescent corridors give way to the dim, humming chill of a warehouse-sized cold store, where a sickly green-grey light pools on steel racks and wet concrete. The camera stays close and jittery during the chaos, then pulls back to wide, flat shots of empty Australian night-time industrial lots under a hard white sky. Sound design leans on refrigeration hum, squelching bodies and sudden silence, with comic synth stings puncturing the tension. The vibe is gross-out comedy with a nervous edge: a sticky, slapstick unease that tips into outbreak panic. Pacing is brisk and escalating, suited to a loud Friday night with friends rather than quiet solo viewing. The tone is irreverent and darkly playful, and the arc follows two unlikely coworkers thrown into a crisis who gradually learn to trust each other. Intensity is high: frequent gore, mutated bodies, vomiting and fungal growth, with graphic violence and some strong language, though the mood stays cheeky rather than bleak. It suits fans of creature-feature horror, sci-fi disaster spoofs and viewers who enjoy messy, splattery set pieces with a grin.
