The story

What it’s like
Isometric, hand-painted battlefields rendered in muted olive, rust and grey, with bunker interiors lit by single bare bulbs and dusty daylight falling through shattered roofs. Zoomed-out views of tiny figures creep across sunlit German villages, coastal batteries and the cramped decks of a carrier, and the camera stays fixed so you can plan every move from above. Sound is mostly restrained: distant gunfire, boots on gravel, a few wartime radio crackles, and a sparse military score that swells only at alarms. The vibe is tense, methodical and quietly absorbing, suited to a focused evening alone or a slow weekend session with a cup of tea. Pacing is deliberate. You pause, study patrol routes, then execute a plan in short bursts of action. Emotional register is cool and procedural rather than sentimental, with a small team of hardened soldiers working together under pressure. Violence is present throughout: soldiers are shot, stabbed and killed in combat, with bodies left on screen, but it is stylised and small-scale with no gore. Suits players who enjoy tactical puzzles and stealth planning, and who want a grounded wartime setting without graphic brutality.
