The story
With Prom only hours away, the usual suspects of Cosa High (Cheerleaders, geeks, bad boys and the happy-go-lucky student council alike) are preoccupied with the annual rituals of teendom. On the night of the big dance when the dead unexpectedly rise to eat the living, polar opposite groups will be forced to unite in their final chance to save the town from the zombies.
What it’s like
Bright, cheap-looking high school hallways give way to dusky cemetery grounds and a gym decked out in crepe-paper streamers, with the glow of party lights and flickering practical gore doing most of the lighting work. Handheld, quick-cut camerawork keeps the pace jittery and kinetic, and the score leans on pop-punk-adjacent guitar and dance-floor synths that lean into the prom-night absurdity. The vibe is goofy, gleefully gross, and affectionately teen-movie: a Friday-night watch with friends, or a loose comedy-horror pick for a rainy evening when you want something silly rather than scary. Its arc follows a mix of cliquish students (cheerleaders, geeks, bad boys, student council) slowly dropping their social armour as the night's chaos forces them together. Violence is frequent and cartoonishly bloody, with zombie attacks and splattery kills that land as slapstick rather than dread, and there is some teen innuendo and profanity. It suits viewers who want undead mayhem with a wink, and fans of tongue-in-cheek high school comedies who don't mind rough, low-budget effects.
