The story
A mystical, ancient dagger causes a notorious serial killer to magically switch bodies with a 17-year-old girl.
What it’s like
Bright, saturated slasher daylight: suburban hallways under fluorescent tube light, pastel lockers, sunny cafeteria tables and garish red-smeared kill scenes that play for laughs as much as shocks. The camera stays fairly straightforward and kinetic, with quick cuts, punchy close-ups and a tight rhythm that keeps the jokes landing. The score leans on synth-pop and bouncy needle-drop hits, so the soundtrack feels like a teen comedy even when the blade comes out. Vibe: campy, mischievous and high-energy, with a sweet undercurrent of grief running beneath the mayhem. It suits a fun Friday night, a group watch, or a lighter horror rewatch when you want scares with a grin. Violence is frequent and gory, with chainsaw and stabbing set pieces drenched in blood, but it is cartoonish rather than grim, and there is some crude sexual humour and strong language. The emotional arc follows a grieving teenager and a dangerous man learning to see each other from the inside, which gives the chaos a warm, odd heart. For fans of horror comedy who like their gore played for fun.
