The story

Twenty-five years after a streak of brutal murders shocked the quiet town of Woodsboro, a new killer has donned the Ghostface mask and begins targeting a group of teenagers to resurrect secrets from the town’s deadly past.

What it’s like

Bright suburban daylight gives way to saturated night in this slasher, where glossy digital photography, sodium-orange porch lights and cold blue phone glow keep the frame busy and restless. Camera moves are quick and kinetic, with handheld rushes through hallways and sudden whip pans that turn ordinary kitchens and school corridors into places of threat. The score pulses with synth stings and a familiar tense motif, and the soundtrack leans on pop cues that jolt against the dread. Its vibe is playful menace, a knowing horror-comedy with a sharp, self-aware edge. It suits a Halloween-season watch with friends, a loud Friday night, or a comfort rewatch for fans of the franchise. Pacing is brisk and escalating, with frequent set pieces, jokes that undercut tension, and a cast of young characters working through guilt, loyalty and family damage. Violence is frequent and graphic, with stabbings, blood and bodily harm shown on screen, plus scenes of peril and some strong language. It is not gentle, and the fear is intense rather than subtle. For viewers who enjoy meta slasher humour and don't mind bloody set pieces.
