The story
Super soldier Max Guevera tries to live a normal life in post-apocalyptic Seattle while eluding capture by government agents from the covert biotech facility she escaped from as a child and searching for her genetically-enhanced brothers and sisters who have dispersed after escape.
What it’s like
Rain-soaked nights in a ruined city, lit by sodium streetlamps, neon signs and the blue flicker of screens, with grimy warehouses and cramped apartments that feel lived-in and tired. The camera moves with the action, often handheld and close, and the palette runs to cold steels and sickly greens broken up by warm interior glow. Sound leans on pulsing electronic rock, distant sirens and the thud of martial-arts fights and motorcycle engines. The vibe is gritty, restless unease with flashes of wry, teen-tinged bravado, the kind of watch that suits a late-night binge or a rainy weekend when you want momentum over quiet. Pacing is brisk, with episodic set-pieces, chase sequences and fights that arrive regularly. Emotionally it stays hard-edged but hopeful, following a guarded young woman slowly building fragile bonds while hunted and searching for others like her. Intensity is moderate to high: frequent hand-to-hand and gunfight violence, some blood, peril and menace, and occasional suggestive scenes, but no gore-heavy horror. It suits viewers who want action-driven dystopian science fiction with a strong female lead and a grounded, rough-edged texture.
