The story

Vanessa Helsing, the daughter of famous vampire hunter and Dracula nemesis Abraham Van Helsing is resurrected five years in the future to find out that vampires have taken over the world and that she possesses unique power over them. She is humanity’s last hope to lead an offensive to take back what has been lost.

What it’s like

Grimy, sun-bleached post-apocalyptic streets, with dust-coloured daylight, rust and concrete, and night scenes lit by sodium glow and torchlight in the shadows of ruined cities. The camera leans toward handheld action and tight, close framing during fights, then settles into static medium shots of survivors huddled in makeshift compounds. Sound design favours heavy percussion, distorted guitar stings and the crack of gunfire, with quieter stretches of wind and echoing empty corridors. Vibe: gritty, tense, and fast-moving, with a hard-edged gothic flavour that tilts toward pulp. Violence is frequent and fairly bloody, with stabbings, decapitations and vampire feeding shown on screen, plus some sexual content and a steady undercurrent of dread and cruelty toward captives. Pacing is brisk, built around episodic missions and reversals, and the emotional register stays grim and defiant, following a reluctant heroine learning to trust a fractured band of allies. It suits a late-night binge with the lights low, or a playful action comedown after a long week. Not for anyone wanting gentleness or low-stakes calm; it is for viewers who enjoy monster fights, ruined-world atmosphere and a stubborn, scrappy heroine.
