The story

A 50-year-old single father faces disapproval from his family and his ex-wife when he falls in love with a 26-year-old woman.

What it’s like

Bright, saturated Delhi and Punjab interiors with warm lamplight, sunlit family homes full of clutter and colour, and bustling wedding-season streets, all shot in the glossy, well-lit style of mainstream Hindi commercial cinema. Camera work is mostly conventional: medium two-shots, reaction close-ups, and fast-cut montages set to upbeat Punjabi-tinged pop and bouncy song sequences that punctuate the dialogue. The vibe is breezy, playful and warm, with a light comic touch that makes it easy to watch with someone on a relaxed weekend evening or as an undemanding comfort watch. Pacing is brisk and frequently interrupted by music, and the emotional register stays gently teasing rather than heavy. It follows a middle-aged man and his grown circle of family and former spouse as they react, with some grumbling and a lot of affectionate needling, to his unexpected romance. Intensity is low: mild sexual innuendo and suggestive banter, some awkward situational jokes, no violence and no real darkness. It suits viewers who want a warm, funny, romantic film about family meddling and second chances, with plenty of music and no sting.
