The story

Twisted-Wonderland is a Japanese mobile game created by Aniplex and Walt Disney Japan. The character designs, scenario, and concept were designed by Black Butler creator Yana Toboso, focusing on depictions of villains from various Disney franchises.

What it’s like

Bright, saturated anime-styled character art set against gothic Disney-villain palettes: plum and midnight blue, violet mist, candy-coloured magic and crimson accents, with stylised 2D portraits that pop over painted backdrops. The soundscape leans on orchestral-pop music and rhythmic sound effects, with chiming spell cues and light percussion that keep the rhythm of a turn-based battle moving, and the touch-screen play feels tactile and deliberate, tapping through menus and cards on a phone. Its vibe is playful, whimsical and a little mischievous, a dark-fairytale wink rather than true menace. It suits a commute, a lazy evening on the sofa, or a stretch of gentle daily check-ins, with sessions that can be short and unhurried. Violence is cartoonish and mild, limited to stylised battle clashes with no gore, and the emotional register stays light, centred on friendships and teasing rivalries among characters who grow fond of each other. It is for fans of Disney villains, anime character design and story-driven RPGs who want something cheerful and low-stakes.
