The story

The follow up to the award-winning #1 new videogame IP of 2009, DJ Hero 2 will transform living rooms into nightclubs all over again with an entirely new music-gaming experience. Friends & families can become mix masters and singing sensations to experience hit music like they've never heard it before. With a host of new DJ and vocal multiplayer modes, including innovative DJ Battles, and 70+ mixes featuring the biggest dance, pop and hip-hop hits, DJ Hero 2 delivers the new standard in music gaming.

What it’s like

Bright, glossy nightclub staging in saturated neon: strobing purples, hot pinks and electric blues wash over a turntable-and-screen setup, with crowds and light rigs pulsing in time to the track. The sound is the point, a bass-heavy mashup of dance, pop and hip-hop that the controller's crossfader and scratch disc bend in real time, with vocal turns that bring the room into a karaoke sing-along. It feels loud, sociable and communal, more party than solitary immersion, and it suits a Saturday gathering, a friends-and-family night, or a split-screen tussle where people take turns grinning at each other across the couch. Pacing is bright and relentless, built around short bursts of hitting cues and the thrill of a DJ battle, with the emotional register staying playful and competitive rather than reflective. Its people are never really characters, just performers chasing the next perfect score and the next big drop. There is no violence, gore or dread; the only intensity is the mounting pressure of a tight run of notes. Best for players who want a loud, social, low-stakes celebration of dance and pop music, especially those who enjoy karaoke and friendly rivalry.
