The story
Clone Hero is a free rhythm game, which can be played with any 5 or 6 button Guitars, Drums (knockoffs, MiDis and from official guitar hero or rock band series), Gamepad Controllers, or just your standard computer keyboard. Download the game, copy your song charts into the song folder and enjoy hours of fun!
What it’s like
Bright, flat-colored highway lanes scroll toward a strike line, with notes rendered as crisp, chunky gems against dark backdrops and a clean HUD that stays out of the way. Its sound is the music itself: guitar, bass and drum tracks from whatever charts you load, with the satisfying click and crash of each hit landing hard against the rhythm. Played with a plastic guitar, a MIDI kit or a plain keyboard, it feels like tactile, focused practice, the kind of attention that quiets everything else in the room. Its vibe is energetic but unfussy, a homemade arcade ritual more than a polished showcase. It suits a late evening alone with headphones, a practice session before a band rehearsal, or a loud couch-co-op night on a shared split screen. Pacing is set by each song's tempo and difficulty, so sessions can be a few gentle warm-ups or a long run of ever-harder charts. There is no story, no violence, no gore and no sexual content; the only tension is the sweat of a missed streak. It is for players who want a free, open-ended rhythm game, tinkerers comfortable loading their own songs, and anyone who loves guitar playing as a small, bright obsession.
