The story
**Get ready for Action, Suspense, Romance... and Laffs!** George and Harold have created a new breed of justice. When Greg the police dog and his cop companion are injured on the job, a life-saving surgery changes the course of history, and Dog Man is born. What it’s like
Bright, flat-colour cartoon panels with thick black outlines and a loose, hand-drawn wobble, the kind of page where every frame is a bold, simple tableau: a dog's head on a uniformed body, a cat in a sunny street, a splash of primary colour behind each gag. The voice is bouncy and deliberately juvenile, with big sound-effect lettering, sudden punchlines and a rhythm of quick panels that moves at the speed of a child turning pages. It feels like a cheerful, low-stakes romp: silly rather than sinister, with the peril of a police chase or a crook to be caught always softened by slapstick and a wagging tail. Violence is mild and cartoonish, with no gore, and the emotional register stays warm and playful, the story of a loyal hero torn between duty and the pull of squirrels. Best for early and middle-grade readers, reluctant readers who want a quick win, and adults reading aloud at bedtime or on a lazy afternoon.
