The story

Earth is peaceful following the Tournament of Power. Realizing that the universes still hold many more strong people yet to see, Goku spends all his days training to reach even greater heights. Then one day, Goku and Vegeta are faced by a Saiyan called 'Broly' who they've never seen before. The Saiyans were supposed to have been almost completely wiped out in the destruction of Planet Vegeta, so what's this one doing on Earth? This encounter between the three Saiyans who have followed completely different destinies turns into a stupendous battle, with even Frieza (back from Hell) getting caught up in the mix.

What it’s like

Bright, saturated animation with hard cel shading, glossy highlights on armour, and sweeping camera moves that swing through canyons, starship corridors and a glittering alien wasteland. Fight scenes are the centrepiece: fast, kinetic cuts, speed lines and ki blasts that fill the frame in clashes of white and gold, all underscored by a bombastic orchestral score that swells into electronic pulses and rock-tinged bursts of energy. Quieter moments, like Goku and Vegeta trading wry lines or a brief reflective pause, give the rhythm room to breathe before the next eruption. The vibe is high-octane, earnest and wide-eyed, with a sense of playful competitive joy running under the spectacle. Violence is frequent, stylised and cartoonish, with explosions, bloodless punches and planets-scale destruction rather than gore; there is some peril and shouting, but nothing lingers in a grisly way. It suits a Saturday afternoon of pure spectacle, a fan rewatch, or anyone who wants big, bright, unrelenting action, and it is best for people who enjoy shounen energy, long-running rivalries and superpowered duels.
