The story
Having thwarted Bowser's previous plot to marry Princess Peach, Mario and Luigi now face a fresh threat in Bowser Jr., who is determined to liberate his father from captivity and restore the family legacy. Alongside companions new and old, the brothers travel across the stars to stop the young heir's crusade.
What it’s like
Bright, saturated animation with a candy-colored palette: sunny mushroom kingdoms give way to deep black starfields lit by glowing planets and swirling cosmic light. The mood is buoyant and playful, with fast cuts, slapstick timing, and jaunty music that nods to video game chiptunes. Set against that vastness, the pacing stays brisk and comic, the kind of easy watch that suits a family afternoon, a sleepy Saturday, or a lighthearted rewatch. Peril is cartoonish and low-stakes: villains bluster, characters tumble through space, and fights are quick and bloodless, with no gore and little real menace. The emotional register is warm and goofy, with the brothers' bickering and loyalty carrying the story as they slowly rebuild trust and learn to work as a team. It is gentle, funny, and easy to follow, aimed at kids, families, and anyone who wants colorful space adventure with a steady stream of good-natured jokes.
