The story

Two years after the events of the Fourth Great Ninja War, the moon that Hagoromo Otsutsuki created long ago to seal away the Gedo Statue begins to descend towards the world, threatening to become a meteor that would destroy everything on impact. Amidst this crisis, a direct descendant of Kaguya Otsutsuki named Toneri Otsutsuki attempts to kidnap Hinata Hyuga but ends up abducting her younger sister Hanabi. Naruto and his allies now mount a rescue mission before finding themselves embroiled in a final battle to decide the fate of everything.

What it’s like

Bright, saturated cel animation with heavy use of glowing blues and silver, where the moon fills the sky and washes the ruined landscapes in cold light. Long wide shots of desert and night-lit villages give way to fast, kinetic close-ups in the fight scenes, with energy effects that flare and streak across the frame. The score swells with orchestral drums and synth-tinged brass during battles and drops to quieter piano in the emotional beats between them. The vibe is earnest, high-stakes and rousing, with a sincere warmth toward friendship and family under the spectacle. It suits a Saturday afternoon with a bowl of noodles, or a comfort rewatch for anyone who loves the franchise. The pacing is steady, with long stretches of sparring and chase sequences broken up by quieter reunions. Combat is frequent and stylised, with punches, energy blasts and sword clashes, and there is peril and threats to family, but gore is minimal and the violence reads as cartoonish spectacle rather than grim. It is aimed at fans of shounen action who enjoy big battles, bright visual flair and character loyalty.
