The story

Six young ninjas are tasked with defending their island home of Ninjago. By night, they’re gifted warriors using their skill and awesome fleet of vehicles to fight villains and monsters. By day, they’re ordinary teens struggling against their greatest enemy....high school.

What it’s like

Bright, saturated 3D animation that looks like a playful, slightly chaotic brick-built world: plastic sheen on water and skin, glowing neon-green energy, hard daytime sunlight over a tropical island, and night-time cityscapes lit in electric blues and reds. The camera moves fast and kinetically through busy set-pieces, with quick cuts, bouncing mech fights and gags that land in the corners of the frame, while the quieter high-school scenes feel bright and ordinary. The score is loud and cheerful, built on rock-tinged action cues and pop-adjacent comedy stingers, with plenty of sound effects and clattering brick percussion. The vibe is breezy, chaotic and warm: an easy watch for a family movie night, a silly afternoon with kids, or a light tonic on a weekend when you want noise and laughs over depth. Its emotional core is a father and son slowly learning to see each other, with the teens gradually moving past bravado toward loyalty. Violence is cartoonish, with lots of martial-arts fighting and toy-style explosions, but there is no gore and little that frightens; some villain menace and monsters may startle very young viewers. It suits families, fans of the toy line, and anyone who wants bold, goofy comedy with a sincere heart.
