The story

Dragon Force is a real-time strategy RPG where players choose one of eight rulers to unite the continent of Legendra against a revived evil god. The game features large-scale battles with up to 100 soldiers per side, alongside army management and character development. It’s known for its fast-paced gameplay, multiple storylines, and high replay value.

What it’s like

Bright, painterly fantasy in saturated greens, golds and banner reds, with the Saturn's crisp 2D sprites and pre-rendered map screens giving the whole thing a storybook sheen. Battles are a sweeping, almost chaotic spectacle: hundreds of tiny figures surge across open plains and through forests while the camera pulls back to show the whole field, and the score swells with brassy fanfares and driving percussion that keep the pace up. Vibe: bold, busy and quietly triumphant, like a tabletop campaign that has taken over the room. It suits a weekend afternoon with a lot of time to spare, or a long evening of planning, pausing and watching your armies collide. Pacing is brisk and tactical rather than slow, and the emotional register is heroic and optimistic, with each ruler's path a steady climb toward uniting a divided land. Intensity is moderate: warfare on a large scale with swords and arrows, rendered abstractly through small sprites, so the battles are busy and bloodless rather than graphic, with no gore and little that lingers. It is for strategy players who want management depth, sprawling scale and the satisfaction of building a kingdom from many starting points.
