The story

Dredge is a fishing adventure with a sinister undercurrent. Sell your catch, upgrade your vessel and dredge the depths for long-buried relics. Explore the stories of the strange locals and discover why some things are best left forgotten. Captain your fishing trawler across a collection of remote islands, each with its own inhabitants to meet, wildlife to discover, and stories to unearth.

What it’s like

Dredge looks like a painted postcard gone wrong: stylized, low-poly islands rendered in soft pastel dusk, sea the colour of slate and ink, and a fog that rolls in and swallows the horizon whenever the night shift starts. The camera hangs high and wide above your trawler, so you watch a small boat drift across a huge dark map, lanterns flickering on the hulls of other vessels. The score is sparse and atmospheric, long low synth drones that rise into quiet strings, with the creak of wood and the slap of waves carrying most of the soundscape. Its vibe is quietly uneasy: cozy routine of baiting lines, selling catch and tinkering with upgrades, undercut by a creeping Lovecraftian dread. Pacing is unhurried and loop-based, with a steady rhythm of sailing, hauling and returning to port, and the emotional register shifts from calm to unsettling as the islanders' stories accumulate. Intensity is low on gore and violence but high on psychological unease, with occasional jump-scare-like encounters and eerie imagery rather than blood. It suits late-night solo sessions, a rainy evening, or anyone who likes mysteries that surface slowly, and it is for players who enjoy relaxing routine punctuated by dread.
