The story

This version includes most of the DLC released for both Dynasty Warriors 8 and Xtreme Legends while the previous Complete Edition only included DLC that was provided free of charge for those games.

What it’s like

Bright, saturated battlefields under flat, sunlit skies, with dust kicking up beneath thundering cavalry and banners snapping in open plains and walled cities. The art direction leans on bold colour and sweeping wide-angle views of massed armies, while the soundscape is a rush of drums, clashing steel, and rousing martial strings that swell whenever a charge breaks through. The hands-on feel is immediate and forceful: a single character can cut through hundreds of foes with combo strings, flashy finishers, and an hour of unlockable content to chase. The vibe is adrenaline-fuelled and triumphant, with a rewarding grind that suits a long solo session, a co-op evening with a friend, or a few quick skirmishes before bed. Pacing is relentless, with missions that cycle between tidal waves of enemies and short bursts of objective-chasing, and the emotional register is heroic rather than introspective. Violence is constant but stylised: cartoonish bursts of blood, arcs of enemies flung into the air, and no gore or gruesome close-ups, so it reads as spectacle rather than horror. It is made for players who want high-energy, mindless-fun action, a deep roster of characters to level, and a large amount of content to dig into.
