The story
An ex-gangster re-enters the world of violence after his wife is murdered by a serial killer.
What it’s like
Monsoon rain on Mumbai streets, sodium-orange lamps reflected in wet asphalt, and night-blue interiors that turn sickly under fluorescent hospital light. The romance is warm and saturated, with bright costumes and sun-washed flashbacks, then the frame cools and tightens as the mood darkens. Its soundtrack alternates between soft acoustic guitar and tender vocal ballads and thudding percussion for chases and confrontations. The pacing is brisk and often feverish, with long sequences of stalking and pursuit broken up by melodramatic song breaks. Its vibe is brooding and operatic: romantic longing soaked in grief and rage, with a sinister undertone that never lets up. The violence is frequent and sometimes brutal, including stabbings, bloody fight scenes, and murders shown with visible blood, and there is a persistent sense of threat toward a woman, though it is not explicit. Sex is not graphic. This suits a late-night watch for viewers who like crime thrillers with musical interludes and a doomed romance at the centre. It is for people who want intense melodrama and revenge with emotional excess, not something gentle.
