The story
Semyon, a poster child contemporary chan culture consumer, falls asleep in the bus, only to wake up in front of the gates of Sovyonok, a pioneer camp of the late Soviet Russia. Everlasting Summer is a time-warping, mind-bending visual novel with some eroge content, produced by the collective efforts of Russian chan communities.
What it’s like
Sun-bleached Soviet summer: pine forests, wooden cabins, red pioneer banners and faded posters painted over static backgrounds, with anime-style character sprites standing in front of them. The palette runs warm and dusty with cool blue dusk creeping in, and the mood shifts from nostalgic warmth toward something uneasy as the scenes accumulate. The soundtrack leans on gentle, wistful melodies that thin out into quiet stretches, and reading moves at a steady clip punctuated by long pauses. It has a dreamy, bittersweet, slowly unsettling feel, like a childhood memory growing strange at the edges, good for a late-night read or a long rainy afternoon. Expect sexual content typical of eroge, along with dark psychological thriller elements, including mind control, manipulation, and disturbing themes such as suicide. Violence is limited; the unease comes from dread and mystery rather than gore. Best suited to players who enjoy time-loop puzzles, character-driven mysteries, and melancholic nostalgia, and who are comfortable with adult content and heavy themes.
