The story
Recently fired and desperate for work, a troubled young man named Mike agrees to take a position as a night security guard at an abandoned theme restaurant: Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria. But he soon discovers that nothing at Freddy's is what it seems.
What it’s like
Dim, close night interiors lit mostly by a flashlight beam and the grainy green-grey glow of security camera monitors, so the frame keeps shrinking to whatever a small screen shows. Long stretches hold on empty dining rooms with dust in the air and the faint hum of old electronics, broken by sudden sharp cuts and loud stingers. Flashbacks arrive in warmer, softer daylight, which makes the present feel colder by contrast. The score leans on synth pulses and low drones that build tension rather than melody. Pacing is steady and cautious, punctuated by jump scares, with dread that grows as the building's machinery comes into focus. Violence is brief and mostly implied, though a child's death sits at the centre of the backstory and the animatronics are unsettling and sometimes menacing. Emotionally it is a story about a damaged young man trying to hold his family and his nerve together while something unseen tests him. Best for viewers who want a jumpy, atmospheric night-shift horror with a strong sense of place, and who don't mind frightening imagery involving children.
