The story
Two transfer students, Takashi Mitsuhashi and Shinji Itō, tired of their boring normal life and unpopularity, decide to take their arrival at a new school as an opportunity to reinvent their image, and become delinquents. The duo set out on various misadventures to become the greatest delinquents in all Japan!
What it’s like
Bright, bouncy studio-comedy visuals with saturated school-hallway colors, quick cuts, exaggerated expressions and slapstick timing, the look of a live-action manga page brought to life. The mood is goofy, sunny and sweetly absurd, a comfort-comedy for an easy afternoon or a lighter evening when you want to laugh without thinking hard. Pacing is brisk and episodic, each misadventure a self-contained gag, and the emotional register stays warm and playful, with the central pair's clumsy bravado softening into genuine loyalty as two outsiders find each other. Sound leans on upbeat pop-flavored music and cartoonish sound effects that punctuate the jokes. Intensity is low: there are scuffles and mock-tough posturing played for laughs, with no gore, no sexual content and nothing frightening, so it suits viewers who want gentle, silly, friendship-centered comedy. It is best for fans of light high school comedy, anyone who enjoys over-the-top Japanese manga adaptations, and viewers looking for something cheerful with no real menace.
