The story

Wren's Halloween plans go awry when she's made to babysit her brother, who disappears into a sea of trick-or-treaters. Accompanied by her best friend and two nerdy classmates, Wren needs to find her brother before her mom finds out.

What it’s like

Bright, saturated Halloween nights in suburban Ohio: orange porch lights, fog machines on lawns, costumed kids flooding sidewalks under sodium streetlamps, all shot in a busy, handheld-leaning style that keeps the camera bouncing along with the chaos. The palette is candy-bright and pop-glossy, with the frantic energy carried by quick cuts, sight gags and a cheerful, synth-tinged pop soundtrack that never lets the pace drop. The vibe is breezy, goofy and lightly anxious, a sugar-rush comedy for a cozy night in, a group chat on the couch, or a rainy weekend when you want something upbeat and undemanding. Pacing is brisk and episodic, moving from one mishap to the next, and the emotional arc is simple and warm: a self-absorbed teen girl learning to take responsibility for her little brother and to value the people helping her. Intensity is mild: some peril and scares, mostly comic, with teen-level crude humor and a few mild innuendo jokes, but no real violence, gore or sexual content. It suits viewers who want a light, feel-good teen comedy, especially fans of group-of-misfits adventures and Halloween-themed fun.
