The story
Accused of murder and thrown into the Pit, a young orphan joins a group of monster fighters with special powers to uncover the truth and seek vengeance.
What it’s like
Gritty anime with a grimy, layered palette: rust-brown slums stacked beneath a sealed sky, sodium-orange haze over mountains of refuse, and bright, almost neon bursts of color when the powers flare. The animation leans on kinetic, high-contrast action with heavy inking and fast cuts, while quieter scenes sit in damp, smoky half-light with a low, brooding score broken by driving percussion and rock-tinged battle themes. The vibe is bruised and defiant, a mix of grime and gritty hope, best suited to a Friday night binge or an energetic weekend marathon. Pacing is brisk, with bursts of frenetic fighting between slower stretches of grief and scheming. The emotional arc follows a boy who has been cast out and slowly finds his footing among misfits, moving from rage toward a fragile sense of belonging. Intensity is high: frequent bloody, brutal combat, creature gore, and grim scenes of death and cruelty, with dread and violence landing hard rather than lingering. Not suited to anyone wanting something gentle. Made for viewers who enjoy shounen energy, dystopian grime, and underdog revenge stories with a strong streak of heart.
