The story
After being betrayed and murdered by his employer, a government assassin is resurrected as a Hell spawn and is forced to act as the reluctant leader of Hell's army.
What it’s like
Gritty, hand-drawn animation with inky, heavy outlines and a palette of sooty greys, smoldering oranges and sickly greens, so that Hell reads as a burnt, cavernous industrial sprawl and the city above as rain-slick, neon-stained night. Scenes lean on dark frames, lurid glows and sudden flashes of gore-lit red, and the score is loud and overdriven, all guitars, pounding drums and industrial hiss. The vibe is grim, sardonic and bruised, with a dark comic-book swagger that suits a late-night session or a loud, lights-off binge. Pacing is brisk and episodic, built around fights and set pieces, with the emotional weight falling on a resentful man slowly reckoning with what he has become and what he owes the living. Intensity is high: frequent violence, bloody combat and grisly deaths, demonic horror imagery, and a mature, profane register throughout. Not suited to anyone wanting something gentle. It is for fans of dark superhero animation and demonic myth who like their redemption arcs earned through blood and bitterness.
