The story
From some of the most unhinged and maniacal minds in Hollywood today comes this animated anthology series, a collection of irreverent and emotionally shocking animated short films. Each episode plunges elbow-deep into unseen crevices of The Boys Universe.
What it’s like
Hand-drawn-look adult animation in saturated, comic-book colour: bright primary reds and yellows, heavy ink outlines, and flat cel shading that snaps between sunlit suburban streets and sickly, fluorescent-lit corporate offices. Each short runs a few minutes and changes its visual grammar almost every time, so the experience is closer to flipping through a stack of mismatched, lurid comic issues than settling into one steady style. Sound leans on punchy, cartoonish sound effects, jaunty stings and needle-drop pop, with the occasional sudden hush before a grotesque beat lands. The vibe is gleeful, sardonic and mean-spirited, a comfort-trash binge for a late night with friends rather than anything meditative. Violence is frequent, graphic and gory, with splattering bodies, dismemberment and bodily horror played for shock and dark laughs, plus crude sexual humour and profanity throughout. Pacing is brisk and anthological: each short sets up a grim premise, escalates absurdly and cuts before it wears out its welcome. Emotionally it aims for jolts of disgust and tragicomic sting, so characters stay largely sketches who meet nasty ends. It suits adult fans of The Boys who want more of its satire and carnage in bite-sized doses, not anyone seeking something gentle.
