The story
Delhi girl Ginny lives with her matchmaker mother and is set up with Sunny, who has given up on the idea of love. He just wants to get married and settle down. But, the match is not that simple. As Ginny meets Sunny, there’s a lot more that comes to the fore than previously imagined in this tale of love, life, weddings and music.
What it’s like
Bright, busy Delhi interiors of a middle-class home, with warm tungsten lamps, saturated marigold and wedding-red palettes, and the restless energy of a family house where a matchmaking mother is always on the phone. The camera stays close and mobile, following people through crowded rooms, rooftops and wedding functions with the lively, unpolished feel of a family comedy. Music is a constant presence: Punjabi and Bollywood-pop songs, sangeet dance sequences and festive percussion carry much of the mood, and quieter moments lean on soft piano-led cues. The vibe is warm, chatty and light-hearted, with a sweet undercurrent of wistfulness, best suited to a lazy weekend, a comfort rewatch or a sociable evening with friends. Pacing is brisk and playful, and the emotional register stays tender rather than tragic, following two wary people who gradually drop their defences and find something real. The romance is mild and non-explicit, with no violence and no gore, only the gentle sting of family pressure and heartbreak. Good for viewers who want a funny, music-filled romance about love arriving unexpectedly.
