The story

Twin brother and sister Dipper and Mabel Pines are in for an unexpected adventure when they spend the summer helping their great uncle Stan run a tourist trap in the mysterious town of Gravity Falls, Oregon.

What it’s like

Bright, hand-drawn cartoon look with saturated greens, warm summer yellows and deep pine-forest shadows, the Oregon town rendered in chunky outlines and painted backgrounds that feel lived-in and a little askew. Episodes move in brisk, gag-packed bursts with clean timing, and the score leans on playful synth stingers and bouncy chiptune-flavored themes that shift into eerie, creeping tones when the mysteries tighten. The vibe is warm, funny and quietly uncanny, a summer-vacation daydream with a strange pulse underneath, good for a lazy afternoon, a comfort rewatch or a family evening. Its twins spend the season sharpening their friendship and learning to trust each other, and the tone stays light even as the stakes grow. Violence is cartoonish and mild, with slapstick bumps, monsters that startle more than they wound, and occasional creepy imagery that stays on the lighter side of fear. It suits kids and adults who want cleverness, wonder and affectionate weirdness without anything gory or cruel.
