The story

Hatim is an Indian television series that aired on StarPlus from 26 December 2003 until 12 November 2004. It has elements of fantasy, drama, and many other genres. It was directed by Amrit Sagar and is based on a Persian story recounting the adventures of Hatim al-Tai of the Tayyi tribe of Arabia.

What it’s like

Episodic, broadly staged adventure with a fairy-tale sense of scale, drawn from a classic Persian story about a generous wanderer and his travels through a legendary Arabian world. Expect the rhythm of old-style serialized television: a tale unfolding one episode at a time, with quests, rival tribes, and encounters with the fantastical, and a steady, earnest tone rather than anything ironic or grim. The emotional register leans toward honour, hospitality, and loyalty, so the arc follows a hero whose reputation for kindness is tested again and again. Action and fantasy peril are part of the genre, with swordplay and supernatural threats, but the overall feel is adventurous and morally clear rather than gory or frightening. It suits a comfort-watch on a weekend afternoon or a long run of evenings when you want a sincere, old-fashioned saga with a clear sense of right and wrong. It is for viewers who enjoy folklore-inflected adventure, mythic storytelling, and classic serial drama, and who want their fantasy earnest and warm rather than dark.
