The story

Unearthly beings deliver bloody condemnations, sending individuals to hell and giving rise to a religious group founded on the idea of divine justice.

What it’s like

Hellbound is a Korean series with a cold, bleached look: overcast daylight, drained greys and blues, and sudden hard light when the supernatural arrives. The camera often holds on stark, unhurried compositions of empty streets, sterile offices and crowded church halls, and then cuts to handheld chaos when someone is being taken. Its sound design leans on low, droning synth textures and sudden silences broken by sharp, wet noises, so the score builds dread rather than melody. Violence is frequent and graphic: sudden, bloody deaths and intense body horror, with some gore, though much of the scariest material is implied rather than shown. The mood is bleak, paranoid and suspenseful, with a steady race-against-time pulse and a cult-like, religious menace running under every episode. It suits a late-night binge with the lights off, and it is best for viewers who enjoy dark supernatural thrillers about faith, fear and mob psychology. Not gentle, and not for anyone who wants comfort.
