The story
A father writes his will — his son "Jolly" is going to get it all. But who is Jolly? The comedy unfolds as different people pose as the "real" Jolly on a cruise celebrating the father's birthday — where a murder takes place.
What it’s like
Bright, saturated cruise-ship interiors in daylight and gaudy evening light, with gleaming white decks, sequined party outfits, and a crowd of costumed ensemble players filling every frame. The camera stays busy, moving through crowded corridors and ballroom dance floors, and the cutting is quick and farcical, built around doors, mistaken identities and split-second reactions. The score is loud and upbeat, with dance-pop and bouncing dhol-driven numbers that keep the energy high. It is a boisterous, high-spirited comedy of errors with a light murder-mystery frame: the tone is joyful and chaotic rather than tense. Expect slapstick falls, exaggerated mugging, broad physical gags and some crude, suggestive double entendres. Violence is cartoonish and fleeting, and the mystery is treated as a running joke rather than real dread, so it is not gentle in pace but it is not frightening or gory. It suits a noisy group watch, a lighthearted evening with friends, or anyone wanting a loud, silly, colourful caper without any emotional weight.
